I want to thank all the parents, citizens, and taxpayers who participated in the 2014 Octorara Area School District Survey. This survey was conducted independently, and I greatly value the feedback. The information and insights will be used to help identify priorities and gaps, and evaluate school climate and culture.
This survey was executed from November 27, 2013 – February 28, 2014. During that time, I invited all Octorara Area School District parents, citizens, and taxpayers to participate. Questions covered several areas including communication, transparency, and academics. However, it is not an official survey of the District. As a new School Director, I was looking to gauge public opinion focusing on three components – students and learning, facilities and finance, and community involvement.
I believe survey results provide insight into our District’s learning environment. Survey questions can assess the community’s opinions on academic expectations, communication, engagement, and safety and respect. As a new School Director, I can use these results to better understand our District’s strengths and target areas for improvement.
Soliciting continued feedback can assist in monitoring improvement efforts and target school improvement goals. However, interpretation of this information should take into consideration the number and percentage of survey respondents, and results are being made public for informational purposes only.
